Oliver Patrick Short, born on April 29, 1986, is the esteemed adopted son of the renowned actor Martin Short and the late actress and vocalist Nancy Dolman. However, the family has faced unfortunate losses, with Patrick’s eldest uncle passing away in a road accident, and both his grandparents succumbing to illnesses within a span of two years.

Martin Short, a prominent Canadian actor, was born on March 26, 1950, and grew up in a Catholic household with four siblings. After completing his studies at Westdale Secondary School, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from McMaster University in 1971. However, his fascination with acting was ignited when he joined a Toronto production of Godspell that year, leading him to embark on a successful career in comedy and acting.

Among his notable comedic performances are appearances on Saturday Night Live, roles in films such as “Father of the Bride” and its sequel, “Pure Luck,” “Jungle 2 Jungle,” and “Mars Attacks,” as well as lending his voice to Disney productions like “Treasure Planet” and “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.” Martin Short has also graced various stage productions, showcasing his unique talents.

Throughout his life, Martin had a significant personal relationship with the late Gilda Radner, a fellow celebrity. However, in 1972, he found love with actress Nancy Dolman, and the couple tied the knot in 1980. Nancy, who had a passion for acting, eventually retired from the profession in 1985 to devote her time to being a loving housewife and raising their three adopted children. Tragically, Nancy Dolman lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2010, deeply affecting Martin and inspiring him to become an ardent supporter of the Women’s Research Cancer Fund.

Nancy Dolman, born in September 1951 in Canada, was not only an actress but also owned a business called “Reflections of Ambrosine,” specializing in antique clothes. Before gaining fame in the comedy “Soap,” she showcased her talents in various stage performances, captivating audiences with her charm and skill. Nancy and Martin’s loving relationship led them to adopt their children, Katherine, Oliver, and Henry, fostering a close-knit and blissful family life until her untimely passing in 2010.

Despite the adversities they have faced, Oliver Patrick Short, together with his father Martin, continues to cherish the memories of Nancy Dolman, a talented and cherished figure in their lives.
